Zeno is almost thirty years old when his father dies and he is faced by the fact that his youth is almost over. He meets Giovanni Malfenti, a rich and successful gallery owner with four daughters. Zeno is impressed by Giovanni’s energy. Zeno falls in love with one of Giovanni’s daughters and comes to consider the older man a second father. This relationship helps Zeno find peace and direction. The film is based on Zeno’s conscience by Italo Svevo.
