THE URANIANS is the first episode of an Italian and a Mediterranean feature film project composed by 5 episodes that, through the mythic beauty of its landscapes, tells on a worst and ingrained side of the Italian and Mediterranean culture: the non-acceptance of diversity. As if they were just a single character, the protagonists of the five stories will pass the torch to one another, as if they were athletes racing to find their own place in the world.
The element making each episode different from the other will be provided by a ‘mise-en-scène’ which, each time, makes reference to a different cinematic genre: photography, acting, editing will re-create the time on which the stories are set in using a cinematic style renowned at that time. A choice that is not just aesthetics but even social and political.
