The festival is a cultural, non-profit event, held by the associação brasileira mostra internacional de cinema and recognized by the international federation of the association of film producers. the state and municipality of são paulo establish october as the official month of the festival. the 33rd são paulo international film festival will include three sections: international perspective, special screenings and the new filmmakers competition – a competitive section for films by new filmmakers (with first, second or third films).
