The plot plays hide and seek between real lives and narrative sophistication to relate an presumed gay love story from the 1950s – filled with unexpected political and intellectual twists. It intertwines local characters with the intellectuals who frequented Taormina during the early post-war years: André Gide, Jean Cocteau, Truman Capote – captured in rare and suggestive archive footage. A dark mystery is thrust upon a young French-Sicilian writer, Danielle Russo (Olivia Magnani), a literary journalist sent to Taormina to do research on Truman Capote. But soon she begins to receive a series of mysterious clues that lead her to unveil the pretences surrounding a story whicht, as she will discover, belongs, that involves her personally. The film’s literary dimension is derived from Un Amore di Gide, by Vanni Ronsisvalle, from which the film has been freely adapted.
