A handicapped child, one leg shorter than the other, born into a poor family in Calabria, is locked in a chicken coop with the chickens to roam, making exhibition of himself. He will grow by identifying his functions and duties with those of the king of the house: the cock. The film, inspired by a real event happened in 20 years, begins when the young person is accepted in the psychiatric hospital, where he discovers the hard truth: he is not an animal and at the same time the doctors can not rebuild his life. During the stay he comes into contact with a world of zany characters and marginalized groups, each with its psychotic symptoms but also with a huge load of humanity. To manage their day, a nurse and a doctor who hide deep signs of imbalance, perhaps the most serious and dangerous than those of patients.
