An extraordinary and important human and professional experience that made Sbarre possible. Protagonists are prisoners, women and men, prison guards telling in a natural way their everyday life in prison: starting from the day of arrival to their life together worsen by overcrowding difficulties – 22 hours closed in very small cells shared by three prisoners – to the lack of security staff and the high-pressure duties of each guard keeping under surveillance 60/70 prisoners.
Sbarre aims to represent stories, faces and voices of a Suffering and wants to promote a necessary debate in order living conditions in Italian prisons achieve those levels of civilization European Union requires with urgency. The documentary was made thanks to the Italian Ministry of Justice, the Superintendent of Prison Administration, Tuscany and the Director of Sollicciano District Penititentiary, Florence.
