A Wave of Italian Cinema in Asia

From the Middle East to "Far Est", three of the most important festivals of these season, Haifa, Busan and Tokyo, present a wide selection of Italian titles. Least common denominator is the new Taviani Brothers' movie, Rainbow - A Private Affair, which it has been selected from all three festivals which shows a real International recognition to the movie that had its World Premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
There are seven movies at Haifa International Film Festival (5/14 October), the Israeli kermesse that came now to its 33th edition, which tries to create a 360° itinerary through out the Italian Cinema, including the animated movie Cinderella the Cat. It appears in the selection furthermore: A Ciambra, Stories of Love that Cannot Belong to this World, Emma, The Intruder and Tenerezza - Holding Hands by Gianni Amelio. To present these movies, the Festival hosts a delegation of significance, that sees the directors Alessandro Rak, Jonas Carpignano, Silvio Soldini and Leonardo Di Costanzo with actors Lucia Mascino, Thomas Trabacchi and Carlotta Natoli.
It will follow the 22nd edition of  Busan International Film Festival (12/21 October) with its important parallel marchet. Even here there are seven italian movies that have been selected: Poison - The Land of the Fires by Diego Olivares, that will compete in the illostrious competition Flash Forward dedicated to young talents. In the same section but out of competition, there will be presented Manuel by Dario Albertini and Where the Shadows Fall by Valentina Pedicini. In the World Cinema section The Intruder, Equilibrium by Vincenzo Marra and The Leisure Seeker by Paolo Virzì have been selected.
Silvia Luzi and Luca Bellino will bring their first feature movie, Crater, to the 30th edition of Tokyo International Film Festival, where they will rappresent Italy in the official competition.
The Selection and the presence of Italian films and talents at the Festivals are organized with the support of Filmitalia of Istituto Luce Cinecittà.
