European Shooting Stars 2018

Matilda De Angelis nominated

European Shooting Stars 2018

It has been now more than twenty years that during the Berlin Film Festival European Film Promotion presents a fistful of young talents: European actors whom will be famous in few years, surely in their Countries, often also abroad. That it is what happened to Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, Alicia Vikander and Ruth Negga. The Shooting Star program has been a real springboard for extraordinary Italian talents such as Alba Rohrwacher and Elio Germano.
The first Italian male Shooting Star was Stefano Accorsi, who has been the co-protagonist of Matilda De Angelis, the Italian Shooting Star 2018, in her film debut Italian Race by Matteo Rovere, thanks to which she won the Nastro D’Argento-Guglielmo Biraghi Prize.
Conquering a Star and going to Berlin is not easy at all, only ten young talents make it every year. Ten out of thirty-seven, the number of the European Film Promotion’s Countries, selected by a Jury made up of directors, actors, casting directors and critics.
Matilda De Angelis, twenty-two years old, has acted as co-protagonist in the TV-series Parenthood – Tutto può succedere, and with Micaela Ramazzotti in the movie Una famiglia by Sebastiano Riso, competing at the Venice Film Festival.
Matilda De Angelis, represented by the Agency VOLVER of Gianni Chiffi and Consuelo De Andreis, is also a marvelous singer and a musician. The Jury who elected her has commented indeed:
“Is there anything she can’t do? Actor, singer and musician Matilda De Angelis left the Jury stunned, playing the strong, young driver in Italian Race […]”.
Matilda De Angelis’ fellows in the next Berlin Film Festival will be: Matteo Simoni (Belgium), Michaela Coel (England), Franz Rogowski (Germany), Irakli Kvirikadze (Georgia), Jonas Smulders (Holland), Réka Tenki (Hungary), Eili Harboe (Norway), Alba August (Sweden), Luna Wedler (Switzerland).
Istituto Luce Cinecittà – Filmitalia is the Italian member of EFP and represents Italy in the EFP’s activities.
