Beginning November 25th and running through December 15th, is this year’s third edition of “Rassegna del Nuovo Cinema Italiano”, conceived as a travelling review across Venezuela which was inaugurated in Caracas in November 18, 2005.
There are twelve films altogether in the programme, some of these premiering for the first time in South America.
The event was organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Caracas, Italy’s Foreign Trade Commission, AIP-Filmitalia, Giuseppina Foti of StudioItalia in collaboration with MilviaPiazza Producciones, the Italian Consul General in Caracas and the Italian Embassy in Venezuela, to present the latest productions and directions in Italy’s most recent cinematography to the Venezuelan public, in addition to introducing our country’s latest cultural tendencies using local media and press.
Thanks to this by now established review celebrating its third edtion, the Italian cinema void in Venezuela has been filled. Up until 2002, this presence was limited to a restricted number of Italian films.
This year’s edition included a marathon of Italian films, all with Spanish subtitles, which best represented Italy’s most recent film productions. The event in Caracas was inaugurated by Italian actress, Maya Sansa, who played the leading role in the festival’s opening film “ Buongiorno Notte “ by Marco Bellocchio.
