Off-beat, unique, rallying, bold, innovative, festive, ... Montreal Festival du nouveau cinéma (FNC) celebrates all aspects of the 7th art that reinvent the cinematographic language. Through its different sections, the festival pursues its mission of supporting and showcasing major works, as well as offering a platform to introduce the authentic and diverse works by emerging artists. New tendencies, new technological and narrative horizons, Quebecois, Canadian and international discoveries, highly anticipated films, short and feature lengths, documentary, fiction and experimental, new media works; the cinema and all sorts of moving images await you at the festival!

8 competitive sections and 3 non-competitive sections showcasing over 300 works
20 awards with prizes in cash and/or services are presented by juries of local and international industry professionals.

* P’TITS LOUPS: cinema for children young and old
P’tits loups award given to the best short of the P’tits loups competition by a jury of young moviegoers (aged 8-12)
* RENCONTRES PANCANADIENNES DU CINÉMA ÉTUDIANT (RPCÉ): a national competition of student short films
RPCE award given to the best short film in the RPCE competition
* THE ESSENTIALS (LES INCONTOURNABLES): the latest feature films by the greatest names in cinema
* HISTORY OF CINEMA: retrospectives and tributes to important artistic figures
