Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival's mission is to create an extraordinary 4-day festival that presents the most artistically significant contemporary Italian film from both established and emerging directors. With over 12 feature film screenings and special events, NCIFF is the principal Italian film event in the region. While attracting audiences over 10,000, NCIFF still retains an intimate experience for audiences as they connect with Italian directors in arguably America's most beautiful and hospitable city. Charleston, one of the most well-known cultural centers in the American South, shares a special bond with Italy. The Italian influence on the establishment of Charleston as a major tourist destination is due to the founding of the Spoleto Festival USA – a celebration of artistic excellence and a cultural exchange between "due mondi." The locals like to share Charleston nightlife and there are usually lively after-parties where filmmakers and film enthusiasts meet.
