Erika and Mauro live a quiet life in the countryside, shaped by small gestures and familiar routines. When their daughter Irene leaves to study far away, the house empties and the balance of their life together begins to unravel. Erika, who has always found her place in caring for others, suddenly loses her sense of direction. Mauro, raised by an authoritarian father, tries to fill the void, only to confront a vulnerability he has never acknowledged. As old wounds and forgotten desires resurface, the couple are forced to truly see one another and confront whether – and how – they can transform themselves and their relationship.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
I wanted to make a film about relationships, with the soul as its true protagonist. A film built on waiting, minimal movements, and everyday rituals. Through the characters’ inner fractures, I wanted to reveal truths and silent anxieties that we often choose not to name, arriving at one central question: do we still know how to desire? The camera became an instrument of listening rather than representation, lingering on faces and allowing gazes to express what words could not. Static shots and unbroken frames allow the characters’ emotional time to unfold without imposing answers. Even the close- ups are never entirely centred: a filter, a veil comes between us and them, leaving their nature only partially accessible. Together with the actors, I sought a fragile and disruptive inner nakedness that was essential to the story. Without their vulnerability, the heart of the film would not have beaten. It was an act of love and a request for trust. The attentive listening shared by everyone on set helped make every element of the film unique, coherent, and precise. Yet this clarity of purpose also made room for the unexpected, as if the film, in all its precious unpredictability, had finally revealed itself.
