DIRECTOR’S NOTES:
Lumina for me has always been a modern tale about love and images. It starts as a Sci-Fi documentary to then change into a very personal and intimate coming of age story. The film is rooted in faith towards humble and fiercely low budget cinema taking advantage of the many architectural ghosts around the country to stage the weight of loss, absence and emptiness.
The main character touches the objects as if they were memory devices, guardians of a forgotten past: every shot is intended as an act of love towards her, starting from her eyes as an attempt at recreating the feeling of looking around for the first time. She’s the energy source bringing light in a world of ruins.
