Perugia. The police are carrying away the body of a young woman when they hear a sigh: Rosa Lazar is still alive. The assistant district attorney Cristina Camponeschi and psychologist Stefano Mangiaboschi investigate, but Rosa seems unaware of the attack she has endured and hides the truth. For Cristina, the girl is the key to an international crime ring; for Stefano, the start of an inner journey that will lead him to reveal the true enigma of Rosa Lazar.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
One afternoon in a bar in Città della Pieve, I read a newspaper article about a young prostitute being found and thought dead, at first. I wasn’t out to make a sociological film; I wanted to tell the story of how a person is discovered and how that person wound up in a ditch. A rainy, mediaeval film started to take shape, in a Perugia that was cold, but with bursts of heat: the relationships. With Rosa Lazar, all the other characters emerged. And they are the ones responsible for, or guilty of, the spaces, the cars being driven, the light and sounds. I am just a vehicle; their lives cross through me from end to end and I just have to stand there, in silence if possible, and tell their stories.
