Disillusioned young director Alberto is convinced that cinema has nothing left to offer him. After years spent living in Rome hoping to make a film, he decides to return to his hometown. Provincial life, with its slow pace and familiar faces, seems to offer him an unexpected refuge. Alberto rediscovers the tranquillity he had lost. But it doesn't take long for doubts to resurface, in the form of shelved desires and the one question that has never ceased to torment him: what should he really do with his life?
DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
This film is the result of a psychologically difficult period in my life, when I decided to abandon filmmaking and return to live with my parents. Paradoxically, amidst this climate of surrender and failure, I realized how important cinema was for recounting, processing and ironically portraying those experiences that had marked me. The real impetus to make this film came when I realized that my story could speak to others. Approaching thirty can make you feel the weight of not being where you imagined you would be. It's an age when you tend to question the choices you have made. I wrote Keep Me in Mind in the places of my youth, as I attempted to transform the frustration of returning home into something constructive. A process of self-analysis that was also a cathartic experience.
