In a fallen Rome, where modern time's neurosis expresses itself through a cynical and vulgar humour, Mauro Bonanni, grew up as a car breaker in the borough of Tor Pignattara, approaches old age with a deep existential discomfort. He suffers like many others the invasion of immigrants of the last few years, but his racism, heavy in his expression, reveals his contradiction: he's also fascinated by Africa, so he escapes from roman "imprisonment" leaving suddenly to Cotonou, where years before he shared a journey with an employed from Benin, and where he finally appears serene, restored to his humanity.
