The film recounts the images and imagery of my family, made up of me, my parents – no longer married – my father’s second wife and his two sons from this marriage.
Through a synthesis of family archive images made by my father when I was a child and those filmed by me in more recent times – as a kind passing of the baton – the film opens out to contemplate wider notions of origins, relationships and growth, by searching for the traces of family sentiment: the love between my parents; attention to those small daily "rituals" that reveal affection, complicity and shortcomings; their gaze upon my siblings (and on me as a child) and their vision, almost a yearning breathing a return to the womb.
