The bell tower’s view, rigorous and centuries old. Silently observing, contemplating the city and it’s changes throughout the seasons: children playing, laborers at work, the solitude of middle age, tourists trying to get the perfect picture. The life of the neighborhood moves silently in a continuous flow of pictorial images, gestures, shadows and quiet voices. From high above the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio you see a square suspended in time, similar to a great aquarium inside which people wander without a destination and, apparently, without any purpose.
