Like every night, Antò (9) says goodbye to his mother Angela as she sets off to go to work. The next morning Giuseppe, the husband of Angela and Anto’s father, receives an anonymous phone call telling him that his wife is unwell. When Giuseppe and Antò get to the hospital, they discover the awful truth: Angela died while working in the fields. In front of her body, Giuseppe makes his son a bizarre promise: one day, he will have his mother back. Now it is their turn to work with the other farmhands, and so they start a journey into a hard and violent microcosm.
