The young girl of Turkish origins, Bahar, works in a restaurant in a small town in Northern Italy. Fearing that she would get promoted in his place, Igor finds continuous pretexts to reproach her, claiming that she makes mistakes during the differentiated waste collection. By reaction, Bahar develops such a maniacal attention in her work that she can not help but deal with what happens outside the restaurant. Every day, unknown people leave garbage in the street and recurring pieces of a fascinating sculpture gradually emerge. As in a puzzle, Bahar will match them, giving life to an object that will also reveal the identity of those who abandon the trash...
DIRECTOR’S NOTES:
Winter Solstice was inspired by a serious problem present in many Western Cities too, today, of the abandonment and recycling of waste. Starting from this premise, the director reunited a team of young actors including Elit Iscan, the young Turkish Actress that starred in the film "Mustang", nominated as foreign film for the Oscars in 2015, and shot a modern urban fairy tale, set in the middle of Nothern Italy. The film premiered at Rome Independent Film Festival at the end of 2018, and has been selected by RAI Cinema for the Rai Cinema Channel Award.
