A documentary inspired by the work of the classic Roman poet, Ovid. Prolific and sometimes risqué, Ovid wrote about love, seduction and mythological transformation. His poetry, especially the epic poem Metamorphoses, is considered to have decisively influenced European art and literature, including Chaucer, Dante, Shakespeare and Milton. Through the narration of Michele Placido, Lino Guanciale and Giorgio Pasotti, and the re-enactment of literary characters, the documentary, Lectura Ovidii, brings audiences those universal themes that have stood the test of time, and characters, experiences, emotions, and perspectives still relevant today.
