94 years old Olivia Pellis, pioneer of visual anthropology, is preparing all her materials to create an archival collection with more than 100 hours footage in 8mm and 40.000 pictures. She realizes that one of her most precious movies, shot to describe the reconstruction of several villages in Friuli Venezia Giulia after the earthquake on 6. May 1976, is now lost.
This documentary is a journey in the memory searching for the lost movie, tracking it in the archives, film libraries, memories and local televisions, hoping at last to find the precious film.
