Mara moves to Italy, dreaming of becoming a great cello player. In Milan, there is a big competitiveness in the music school between the talented alumni, and she chooses the most difficult course, which is taught by a sadistic and severe master which she, however, admires very much. So, she joins a string quartet but the masterpupil relationship is destructive. Torn and humiliated, she leaves the school and chooses to isolate herself, tensely in her obstinate aspiration, exercising heavily to show to herself the talent she has, and that has been taken away from her by the school. So, she starts living in a rationally inhuman manner, eliminating everything superfluous, in renunciation, choosing to live only with 100 objects inside her house. A slow and inexhorable self-destruction. Mara, however, will find in this experience the equilibrium to capture, with music, the ephemeral moments of beauty, enclosed within a revolutionary and genial composition.
