DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
An intertwining of themes on premature death, the anger and resentment of an accidentally stolen fate, the supernatural, the exaltation of values such as kindness and love, all supported by a touch of suspense to intrigue the viewer. The Vanishing Hitchhiker is my black fairytale: I chose a fairytale look, but inherent in a slightly vintage cinematic style.
In The Vanishing Hitchhiker, I mainly focused on suspense troubleshooting various themes: maternal love that is given from sharon's strong bond that comes back to life to continue to fulfill his dream of graduation but above all for the love of her mother.
I exalted the suspense of Sharon's appearance through the cinematographic editing. I have left a final open to transmit strong anguish in the spectator, I had a dready and dread music engraved, but shortly after the start of the car, at the final, I had slightly romantic musical tones insert that underlines Sharon’s gratitude to Franz who was kind to her, finally, when the car goes away towards the horizon, the music becomes anxious again, exalting mystery and doubt, in the viewer, about Franz's fate.
Today, after finishing work on my project, I like to think that I have honored the peerless Alfred Hitchcock for the suspense and Tim Burton for his original style.
