In the aftermath of WWII, in a rural village in the South of Italy, Marta, a single mother betrothed to an older man she does not love, befriends Lorenzo, the local homosexual known as "man of the weddings ". Through him, she is introduced to the hidden community of gays in such an archaic place and starts challenging prejudices and hypocrisy to find her place in the world as a woman.
