Alberto Sordi, upon being expelled from Milan’s Accademia dei Filodrammatici, returns to Rome and tries to break into the movies: these are the years of Fascism, which celebrates the glories of Ancient Rome. In this Rome on the brink of war, he meets Federico Fellini and collaborates with Vittorio de Sica. The film also recounts a lesser-known Sordi, concentrating on the span between 1936 and 1954: the eighteen years during which he won over the public and achieved fame.
