Adagio

Manuel is sixteen years old and trying to enjoy his life as much as he can, while taking care of his elderly father. Subjected to blackmail, he goes to a party to take photos of a mysterious individual but, feeling that he has been duped, decides to flee, finding himself embroiled in matters that are far beyond him. In fact the blackmailers that pursue him turn out to be extremely dangerous and determined to get rid of what they regard as an inconvenient witness and the boy will have to turn for protection to two former criminals, old acquaintances of his father.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
After my experiences abroad, I’ve finally turned my gaze back on my own city. Rome has changed and so have I. I have looked at it with different eyes, walking through its streets at another pace. A slower one, an adagio. This is the story of the inexorable, poignant decline of three legendary but aging figures of the Roman underworld in search of an impossible redemption in a world even more cynical, chaotic and cruel than the one they had ruled in their golden years. A world that crushes family, friendly and fraternal relationships without leaving any other bonds between men apart from those of money. A city governed by chaos, corruption and cynicism and choked by torrid heat, devastated by fires and the darkness of blackouts... But there is a chink of light. The new generation.
