The short film explores Pirelli’s corporate culture through cinematic language, represented as a “stage for technique and the arts”. The film offers a narration through images inspired by the play Life of Galileo by Bertolt Brecht, which touches upon the various spheres of corporate culture as promoted by the Pirelli Foundation: theatre, music, art, literature, research, innovation, sustainability. The combination of artistic and scientific creativity has always been essential to define Pirelli’s identity.
The protagonists take turns in a choral representation where the iconography of the product, the circle, becomes the inspiration for cinematographic language. A circular beam of light becomes the fil rouge of the narration, illuminating each time different scenes and scenarios, and conjuring the suggestion of a theatrical setting also in environments unrelated to artistic performances. The set is a geography of places and collective images: the archive, a property of over four kilometers housed by the Foundation in the heart of the company headquarters, as a memory of historical and contemporary values; the factory, as a place for community, work, and knowledge, which becomes a space for rituals and new myths, of industrial humanism; the Pirelli Research and Development laboratories, where the age-old memory of rubber and materials is transformed through the alchemical wisdom of compounds and the geometric seduction of surfaces, patterns and engravings; Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, the synthesis of technology in motion, a common project, a passion, legend, and challenge. The stage of Piccolo Teatro Grassi in Milan, the ideal environment for representation and sharing, a symbol of the public cultural space; the contemporary art space Pirelli HangarBicocca, where design, symbols and community coexist.
A journey through places, faces, words, to remind us that “Noi siamo” ("We are") enterprise, memory, and future.
