Pieces of Water is a film divided into segments: three fairy tales that tell the story of a particular family unit. Each member, at different ages in life, will be the protagonist of an adventure in which their fears will have to be overcome. The three stories interpenetrate, and none can exist without the others.
The first chapter ("Reprise") set in a flowery valley, talks about a small child who is struggling with the difficulty of using the Super 8 camera given to him by his older brother. A group of mysterious flower pickers will put him to the test.
The second chapter ("Act") shows a girl and her stage fright. In a stream in the middle of the mountains he will have to find the strength to dive from a dam a dozen meters high. Her anxiety will lead her to travel into the depths of her own mind and her own destiny.
The final act of the film ("Story") describes the wandering of a mysterious figure in a cold and desolate valley. A sort of ghost, but before becoming one. Faced with his last day of "being alive" and therefore the fear of leaving this life, he will prepare the birth of a new creature.
