Flora Monti was the youngest partisan courier of the Italian Resistance; she is now 94 years old and lives in Bologna. The film talks about her, a child partisan in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and the journey she faced in 1944 to reach what at the time had become the largest refugee camp in Italy: Cinecittà, where Flora lived for seven months . Flora is part of a family of anti-fascists and the Nazis are desperately hunting anyone who helps the Resistance or is part of it. Her house is bombed and the Monti family flees and joins with other refugees the caravan organized by American soldiers that will take them to Rome via Florence. Flora tells us the story seen through the eyes of a child, a story of suffering and terror but above all of hope, determination and freedom.
