In a tough "barrio" in Havana, there's a boxing gym founded a dozen years ago by an Italian man, Samuel Fabbri, to train aspiring boxers from an early age mainly to get them off the streets and to spur them to follow their dreams. It's a resistant microcosm, vibrant and crumbling, reflecting contemporary Cuba, where teens like Haiffer and Adrialis grow up in and out of the ring, confronting their families, friends, trainers, and Samuel: different generations who are getting ready for the day of the "pelea" against the most modern and well-equipped gym in Havana Vieja, which could either revive the fortunes of the Gimnasio, or decree its end.
