In an arid land far away in time, an unknown disease annihilates every biological form. Jacopo, a young aspiring painter, walks with his master to a convent in an attempt to obtain a commission. When the two part Jacopo gets the job but, finding himself in front of the white wall to be frescoed, he loses himself in total inconclusiveness and in a world that seems totally incomprehensible to him.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
Rainless Days is a film born from the feeling of terror and melancholy inspired by the sight of dead olive trees in Salento, a region in Southern Italy devastated by one of the biggest plant epidemics in history, Xylella fastidiosa. In this landscape, gripped by an ecological crisis, Jacopo is a character who is more akin to an animal than a human being because he cannot shape his surroundings. Although he lives in a time far removed from our own, his anxieties mirror those of a generation of the present that feels it cannot have the tools to deal with the future.
