In a still, expectant Naples, on Christmas Eve, Anastasia Finizio is an elegant, independent young woman and owner of a shop, but still very close to her family, who rely on her for everything. Her mother, brothers, and an elderly aunt inhabit the large apartment where Anastasia has sacrificed much of her own freedom. During the Midnight Mass, her best friend Dora announces that Antonio Laurano is back in town: the man who, years earlier, had first kindled her hopes of a different life. In the space of twenty-four hours, Anastasia experiences love, acceptance, and a sense of identity, wondering about the woman she is and could still become. Over Christmas lunch, reality mingles with memories, dreams, desires and starts to blur.
