In a not-too-distant future, a family lives in a highly capitalist society, obsessed with consumerism and electronic gadgets. Billy, a dreamy twelve-year-old passionate about astronomy, discovers that his father has put his future in debt to buy gadgets, destroying his dream of becoming an astronaut and traveling to Mars. Twenty years later, we see the consequences of this choice on his life.
