Inside the Caffè Florian, a symbolic place of Venice and a living creature made of sounds, light, and memory, an entire day unfolds, suspended in time. Its historic rooms, hidden corridors, worn mirrors, and windows overlooking Piazza San Marco become the pulsating heart of the narrative. Within this ancient and refined organism move discreet figures: absorbed patrons, musicians, and staff who traverse the spaces with measured gestures. Among them, a young waiter emerges as a silent presence, guiding the viewer’s gaze and weaving himself into the life of the caffè.

Director's statement

The Caffé is born from the desire to observe without interfering, allowing the density of time and space to surface. The film breathes with the Caffè Florian, engaging with the light filtering through its historic rooms, with ambient sounds, footsteps, and the objects that inhabit the space. The absence of words opens up a sensory perception, where silence becomes language. The waiters, through measured gestures and repeated rituals, form the invisible backbone of the place. A young waiter accompanies the viewer’s gaze through hidden paths and daily routines, revealing a deep relationship between body, space, and time, within a microcosm suspended between past and present.
