What if the future was already here, just not where you live?
Over three years and across ten countries, Preview journeys to places where the climate crisis is already disrupting lives. From sinking islands in the Pacific, archiving themselves in the metaverse before they disappear, to drought-hit communities in Ethiopia, wildfire-ravaged neighborhoods in Los Angeles, flooded communities in Pakistan and Italy, heat-stricken cities in India, towns eroded by the sea in England, the film encounters people living at different points along humanity’s climate timeline.
Their stories form a portrait of a species in transition. But as the journey unfolds, the film moves beyond the disasters themselves to reveal the systems connecting them: oil production in Iraq, the explosive growth of data centers across the United States, and the wars and resource struggles unfolding across Ukraine and the Middle East.
As these stories connect throughout the film, one question emerges: can seeing our future through the present of others help us change it?
