On the shores of a lake, a quiet village in the Italian countryside. A mysterious salesman (Stefano Fresi) arrives one stormy night to rent the apartment of a wealthy pensioner (Toni Garrani), but he seems more interested in the woman who lived there before (Elena Arvigo), whose trail seems to have been lost. Nothing is ever so calm and transparent. No one is ever quiet and still in certainty. Beneath the surface of appearances, there is a world of emotions that, like water, is constantly changing its shape.
