Entering for the first time the areas inaccessible to visitors of a modern zoo to discover the mechanisms of a semi-unknown reality that, fortunately, has inherited the spirit of Noah. A new universal flood is underway, generated this time by the dark clouds of deforestation, poaching, pollution. The life of thousands of animal species is in danger but there is a vast international community, the EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquariums) that works to ensure the conservation of endangered species with a surprising interconnection between member zoos. Among these is also the Bioparco, in Rome, which opened its secret doors to us to tell, poetically and up close, what lies behind the days of chimpanzees who escaped poaching, of a rare tiger cub, of an unforgettable newborn sea lion to wean, of a Grevy’s zebra and of a pair of dangerous monitor lizards to mate.
