Matteo, a young and extravagant aspiring director, is working on his new short film. The unexpected gift of an old Super 8, pushes him through the streets of Rome in search of faces and stories to tell. In front of his eyes, an intricate map of faces opens. What does our face tell the world about us?

DIRECTOR’S NOTES:
Studies for a close – up is a game of chinese boxes made of faces which, as in a labyrinth of mirrors, multiply. What does our face tell the world about us? This is the question that obsesses Matteo, the young protagonist. The answer lies in the infinity of folds that outline our faces, in which the varied range of emotions and feelings that make us pulse and agitate us, making us alive, are articulated. It is by studying others that we are able to focus on ourselves, our past, our present and our future. Ultimately, we are all alike.
