This film is inspired by the poem Il canto dei nuovi emigranti by Franco Costabile. At a distance of 40 years from the poet’s death, it tells the common story of a people through the life and works of the author. The harsh setting of Calabria, the wound of emigration, the absolute unconcern of institutions and politicians, the grief for a human condition with no way out – all treats of the poet’s lifelong travel as episodes of a human experience which has both a familiar and a social value.
