85-year-old world renowned music conductor Petr Novotni is hard at work composing a new opera in his beautiful country home. He has hidden a secret from his past, until one day, as he's taking his daily walk through his local wood he is kidnapped. Petr recognizes his kidnapper: it is Yosef a talented Jewish composer he met, in Terezin concentration camp outside of Prague1942 a ghetto for Czech and Austrian Jews in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (German-occupied Czechoslovakia). It held notable personalities from Jewish films, theatre and music artists as well as authors, writers and all kinds of intellectuals. Petr's housekeeper informs Fredrich and Annah, Petr's two children on his disappearance. In her father's study, Annah discovers a memoir containing Petr's secret that will change everything.
