The Emilia-Romagna town of Predappio is the birthplace of Mussolini, a halfway house between a place of pilgrimage and location for an archaeological transformation that changed its face over the space of twenty years. The documentary by lecturer and filmmaker Bertozzi uses archive footage from the Istituto Luce to reconstruct the phases in the town’s transformation, investigating its current appearance and its inhabitants’ relationship with such a demanding heritage. A work of suggestive audiovisual archaeology that features two communication historians, Pierre Sorlin and David Forgacs, to reconstruct the creation of a regime’s media and architectural image.
