For years, Armando incarnated supreme loyalty to the values of social democracy. An orphan, to him the party was like his home. His life revolved around trips to Eastern Europe with union groups, party congresses, late evenings at the party offices, election campaigns, battles for workers’ rights, the newspaper “l’Avanti!” tucked under his arm, his pipe. All this, until he decided to vote for Berlusconi. His daughter Chiara reconstructs that choice, which was repudiated by her father and by many other Italians.
