Once in Sicily, she discovers that Catania, below the slopes of Mount Etna, is pervaded by a deep magic, evoked by the volcano's fire. The same fire that haunts her dreams, drawn by the mysterious figure of her dead mother.
Having grown up with the ghost of her shaman father, whom she never met, Agata somehow inherited his powers, helping her to find her sister.
The difficult reunion will lead them toward a family catharsis, only to plunge into the river of a million fire worshipers who run through Catania for three days during the cripto-pagan ChrisDan celebraDon of St. Agatha, aNer whom she is named.
Agata eventually will convince Paulina to make an 'ascent up the volcano that is about to erupt, in a crescendo toward the fire that becomes like a ritual to close the curse triggered by their mothers or perhaps to renew it.
