Galeazzo Nardini, (Pescia, 1938 - Massa e Cozzile, 2016), an eclectic and original figure of contemporary art, lived through the 70s and beyond, cultivating friendships with prominent artists such as Ben Vautier and Giuseppe Chiari, while actively participating in the international art scene. In 1973, he was the first artist in the world to self-exhibit his work in the Louvre Museum, a gesture replicated more than thirty years later by Banksy. However, in 1976, taking a stand against the exploitation of artists and censorship, he gave birth to the innovative idea of "Art Strike". He closed his gallery studio “M3 151 Spazio Alternative 2” in Montecatini Terme and stopped selling his works, but never ceased creating hundreds upon hundreds of them, continuing to compose, write, paint, and draw a single subject: the word “STRIKE.” Expressed in his style and forms, on every possible surface, from classic canvases to cardboard, notebooks, newspapers, napkins, tissue paper rolls, and more. His daughter, actress Hélène Nardini, who had been involved in her father’s artistic journey since childhood, leads the documentary, retracing Galeazzo’s life and controversial choices, exploring how the Strike influenced every aspect of his existence. The archival material, composed of photographs, Super 8 films, and videos, reveals the depth and scope of this performance, which spanned the artist’s entire life, becoming a daily mantra. Interviews and testimonies from people close to Galeazzo and art experts complete the picture.
