The film shows the treatment of a premature baby in a hospital’s modern neonatology wing and the relationship between the newborn and the medical setting where he is cared for: the machines, treatments and tests; his crying, hunger and weight; and time, in that blend of power and fragility, miracle and mystery that is human life.

Highlighting the condition of premature babies means providing a mass of scientific information that prompts viewers to become aware of the theme and explore it. The flurry of hands, voices, tools and machinery that satisfy an infant’s basic needs in such a delicate, extreme condition leads one to openly reconsider and reflect upon this valuable lesson in civilisation: taking care of a human being.
