Every year in June, since 1688, Pisa celebrates her patron saint San Ranieri with a festival called Luminara.
This documentary shows the preparation and further development of this "celebration of light", during which the whole street facing the river Arno is cut off from electric lightning and hundreds of candles are lighted up. This aims to outline the architecture of the buildings and trace more or less abstract shapes. In the film, particular attention is given to the people as a comunity, which recognizes the Luminara as part of its cultural heritage. This ethnographic documentary was produced as part of the project for the nomination of the Luminara as an new element of Unesco intangible cultural heritage.
