Tommaso is a shy and taciturn teenager. He's good at school, but doesn't have many friends other than Giulio, the typical confident, good-looking guy, who understands him and always tries to lure him out of his shell. Tommaso is secretly attracted to Sofia, a schoolmate his age, interesting and mysterious, whom he sees every morning on the subway, but that he has never had the courage to speak to. Tommaso, however, can count on a supernatural power: that of stopping time around himself for a few moments, providing "bubbles" of peace and solitude that allow him to make it through his days.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
I chose to approach the story from a perspective of magical realism, introducing surreal, sci-fi elements in a hyper-realistic and traditional context such as that of high school and the universe of personal insecurities that accompanies it. I intend “Time-lapse” to be a weird, awkward and funny little love story, as complicated and confusing as its characters.
