In a small town in Sardinia destined for depopulation the community is getting older, young people are emigrating and no more children are being born. Nevertheless a music resounds in the alleys of the old town, in the woods, in an abandoned mine. A brass band, the same one that has been playing for a hundred years, accompanies a funeral without a coffin. The notes mingle with the grief of the last widows who mourn the dead, with the silences of the now empty places, with the cowbells of a pagan procession that crosses the Christ carried on the cross in the night of St. Anthony's fires. A few resist and the miracle of a new music happens.
