More than thirty years after the passing of Massimo Urbani, the troubled genius of Italian jazz, this documentary, shot like a road movie, recounts a double journey: that of his son, Massimo Amadori, born a few days after his father's death and now the protagonist of a musical and personal exploration; and that of Urbani himself, through poignant, previously unseen footage from 1992 in which he talks candidly.

Director's note

Unlike the linear chronological structure of most biographical or music-themed documentaries, this film utilizes two different time periods: the son's present-day journey, a sort of road movie that follows the framework of the character-driven narrative documentary — which in reality serves as the vessel for the true story — and a portrait of his father in the past, featuring original footage from 1993 in which the great musician Massimo Urbani spoke openly and freely.
The music is the agent that carries the documentary's emotions, but the real heart of the narrative is the life of one of the last great troubled artists and the love that exists between a son and a father.
